Alternatives to ADDIE

The training department I work in currently utilizes the ADDIE ( Analysis-Design-Development-Implementation-Evaluation) process for course-ware development.  This model, developed in 1975 by FSU for the U.S. Army.   It’s a tried and true method of development in any educational environment.

However, it was developed at a point in time when technology was not moving as rapidly as it is today.   One of the largest complaints about ADDIE as a process is that it is slow.   When technology is moving quickly ADDIE development can create a significant lag between the time when technology was released and when training materials are available for it.
